For over 40 years, Twisters Gymnastics Academy has been part of the Cedar Rapids community. Our mission is simple: to enhance the lives of every child we work with and help them grow into happy, healthy, confident adults. From toddlers in their first Parent & Me class to competitive gymnasts, our programs build strength, coordination, and resilience. They also teach respect, teamwork, and the pride that comes from mastering something new.

Recreation Program Coach

You will lead gymnastics and/or tumbling classes built around USA Gymnastics Level 1 and 2 skills.


You will be thoroughly trained and taught the expected and proper technique for building strength, flexibility, skills, and body awareness. Then you will be expected to teach classes helping athletes improve at own pace, while remaining positive, encouraging, and following the given plan.


Recreation classes:

  • Diaper Dynamo (ages 18 mo-3 years)
  • Twist’n Tornado (ages 3-4)
  • Mini Twisters (ages 5-6)
  • Rising Stars (ages 7+)
  • Mighty Twisters Intermediate (ages 7+)
  • Advanced Twisters (ages 7+)
  • Beginner Tumbling (ages 5+)
  • Intermediate Tumbling (ages 7+)
  • Advanced Tumbling (ages 7+)
  • Dance and Acrobatics (ages 5+)


Ninja Program Coach

As a Ninja Coach at Twisters, you will coach classes that blends tricking, acrobatics, and martial arts training.


Ninja is different from traditional gymnastics. Instead of perfecting set routines, kids learn to move creatively, problem-solve, and take on dynamic challenges. You will guide them there with hands-on instruction and a strong focus on safety and positivity.


Ninja Classes:

  • Lil’ Ninja (ages 3½-5)
  • Ninja Mini (ages 5-6)
  • Ninja Rising (ages 7+)
  • Ninja Mighty (ages 7+)
  • Ninja Bronze (ages 7+)


Competition Team Coach

As a competitive coach you will help competitive gymnasts grow through our program and be successful while remaining positive and confidence-building. Twisters offers two competitive pathways.


Developmental Program (USAG Levels 2-10):

You’ll coach our compulsory (Levels 2-5) and/or optional (Levels 6-10) teams, helping athletes build strong fundamentals and discipline. We’re looking for knowledgeable coaches who are responsible, dedicated, and consistent in attendance, and who can connect with athletes of different ages and abilities. A supportive, motivating coaching style is a must, along with the ability to travel to competitions during the season.


Xcel Program (Bronze through Sapphire): We offer Xcel Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire, so you’ll need solid knowledge of the sport and the flexibility to coach gymnasts of many ages and abilities. We value coaches who are dependable, take responsibility seriously, and create a positive practice environment where athletes can thrive. Coaches need to also be able to travel to competitions.
