How do I withdraw my child from class?
We require a two-week written (or email) notice, due by the 25th of the month, to discontinue classes. Tuition will be charged until the notification period is up. If a withdrawal notice is submitted after tuition is paid for the month, there will be no proration or refund for the remainder of the month.
-
Do we offer make-up classes?
We do!
Although you cannot make-up a class during the week, we offer a make-up class session one Saturday a month from 11:30am until 12:30pm. Sign up at the front desk during your next time in or email us at info@iowatwisters.com.
If you cannot make it to our Saturday session, you are more than welcome to collect an open gym pass at the front desk the next time you are in the gym!
-
If my child misses class, will I receive a refund for that class?
Tuition is based on an annual amount divided equally by the 12 months of the year. The fee reserves the student’s place in the class whether attending or not. Therefore, there are no refunds for classes missed due to vacations, school events, illness, and scheduled holidays. If your child misses a class for any reason other than a closed holiday, you may schedule a makeup class with the office (see makeup class information above).
-
Does my child need to be a Twisters student to attend open gyms?
Children do not need to be current Twisters students to attend open gym!
Check out our Open Gym section under the 'Activities' page for more information!
-
Do we offer free trial classes?
While we do not offer free trial classes, we do offer a two-week trial period. You do need to register for the class and pay the annual registration fee and first month’s tuition. However, if by the end of your child’s second class they decide they do not wish to continue, and you notify us at that time, we will refund your full tuition paid. The only thing that is not refundable is the annual registration fee.
-
When do classes start and end?
Twisters has open enrollment, meaning you may start and stop class at any time. We do offer a special summer session with daytime classes for school-age children, but the remainder of our classes run year-round.
-
When can my child start attending their class?
Our policy requires you to start class within two weeks of enrolling. The system will not allow you to choose a date further than two weeks out from today. You will be charged from the date you choose to start. If it’s in the middle of the month, it will be prorated.
-
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, we do charge an ANNUAL registration fee of $25 for the first child, and $10 for additional children in the same family (this discount is applied during the first year only). This is due upon starting classes, and annually thereafter. This fee covers administrative costs including the insurance that we as a USA Gymnastics Member Club are required to carry for each child in our program.
-
Do we offer discounts for siblings?
Yes! We offer a 15% tuition discount for each additional student from the same family.
We also offer a 15% discount for a second class taken by the same student.
-
What forms of payment do we accept?
While enabling Autopay on your account is required, we accept cash or checks as well. If you would like to use one of these methods of payment, you must do so prior to the 25th of each month by stopping at the office.
On the 25th of each month, Autopay will run using the card you have on file. For an additional discount, you can add a bank account (eCheck) instead of a credit card to be authorized for Autopay. This saves Twisters money on credit card processing fees, which we pass on to the families.
-
What is appropriate attire for my child to wear to class?
Pre-school children may wear tucked in t-shirts and shorts, or leotards for girls. We suggest tight fitting clothing for safety.
Girls ages five and up in gymnastics are required to wear one-piece leotards (without attached skirts) for class. Boys may wear shorts and a t-shirt. Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire workout. Stud earrings are allowed, but no other jewelry, including FitBits, friendship bracelets, etc. All students should be barefoot while in class.
Children (boys and girls) in Ninja or Tumbling should wear comfortable activewear (shorts, leggings, t-shirts, etc...) that can be tucked in for safety. They will also attend class barefoot.
-
Will tuition be prorated for holiday closures?
Our monthly tuition is based on an annual amount divided equally by the 12 months of the year. Most months, your student will have four classes, but occasionally they will have five classes. We do not charge extra for the months with 5 classes; this is figured into tuition, as well as our scheduled closures for holidays and breaks.
Our planned holiday closures:
New Year's Day
Spring Break
Easter Sunday
Summer Break (6/1-6/7)
Independence Day
Fall Break (8/24-8/30)
Thanksgiving Day
Winter Break (12/24-12/31)

What is our bad weather policy?
In general, Twisters follows the Cedar Rapids School District with regards to weather closings. If school is delayed due to weather, morning classes will most likely be canceled. If school is released early due to weather, evening classes will most likely be canceled. If school is closed for the day, but weather and driving conditions improve throughout the day, we will likely hold classes.
Closings will be posted on our Facebook page and on KCRG. Affected families will also receive an email announcing the closure. In the event of a last-minute closure, a text message will be sent to affected families, provided we have text permissions on your account.
Weather-related closings will not be refunded. Classes may be made up at our regularly scheduled makeup classes.
-
Do we offer private lessons?
Yes, private lessons and semi-private lessons are available. Gymnastics* private lessons are intended to supplement class, so your student must be enrolled in a class to receive private lessons.
Lessons are set up directly with the coach, as they each have their own schedules and rates. If you would like us to pass along your contact information to a certain coach, please let us know and we would be happy to do so.
*If your student is a dancer or cheerleader, they may receive private lessons without being enrolled in a class.
